The Royal Oak is a small cosy, olde worlde pub with no loud music or food. We are simply a very comfortable venue, with traditional ales and an excellent service record. Our staff are only to pleased to help tourists of any nationality. We have a motto that says "we are genuinely pleased to serve you". Locals, working contractors and tourists a like are made to feel welcome. We have a TV room, main bar area and snug for dominos, darts and conversation. See you all soon Donna and Mike. Newton Hollows
Newton Hollows is a superb example of a medieval hollow way. Over hundreds of years it was hollowed out through the constant passage of people, carts and animals. It originated as the Roman road between the legionary fortress at Chester and the important Roman manufacturing centre at Wilderspool in Warrington. In the 12 the century it was known as the 'valley of the Demons'. It was thought to be haunted and travellers feared an encounter with the 'Hound of Hell' - a huge slavering black dog with great white teeth like knives.
