The Golden Eagle takes historic pub values and gives them a contemporary bohemian twist. For lovers of music you will find the finest juke box in town, and a knowledgeable staff who share a passion for music, food and ale. The Eagle is constantly improving and evolving its’ products and facilities. History Since 1622 there has been an inn on the current site of the Golden Eagle. As such it is steeped in the history of the city and community. Adjacent to the Chester Castle and Crown Court, the pub served as a hostelry to the Cheshire Regiments Garrison and the barristers and judges of the Court. This tradition has been upheld, and veterans of the regiment still frequent the pub to catch up with old comrades. If you are visiting Chester to absorb its history The Eagle is a prime location, situated within the famous walls which act as a perfect artery to the cities historical heart. If it is Roman history that interests you, the Grosvenor Museum is only yards away. For those interested in military history
the Cheshire Regiment Museums are equally close. Chester is also rich in medieval and civil war history. Tour guides often have The Eagle as one of its points of reference. Races One of Chester’s most popular attractions is its’ vibrant and colourful racing calendar. The city comes to life with revellers and racing enthusiasts. The Eagle is the perfect hostelry for race goers. Situated adjacent to the race course, it serves as the perfect location to enjoy all that Chester Races has to offer. Culture Throughout the year Chester plays host to a myriad of cultural activities such as : the literary festival which is gaining international status and a host of musical and theatrical events, too numerous to mention here. The Eagle is within very easy walking distance of the magnificent Chester Cathedral which is dedicated to St Werburgh and is an ancient abbey.

The public bar is located on the ground floor and has an open plan design, ancient with a modern musical twist. The Jukebox is in front of the bar.
Songwriters Open Mic
Monthly from November 2021 Thursday 9pm
A new monthly original song Open Mic Night on the first Thursday of every month, exclusively featuring artists performing their own material and hosted by members of Screaming Devil Pleasure Beach.
From singer / guitarists to instrumentalists to spoken word poetry, as long as it's original it's welcome. Free entry and selected drinks offers for both performers and non-performers* 8.30pm start.
