Its origins can be traced back to the founding of the Roman fortress of Deva in A.D. 70. After the Romans Chester developed into a busy port with trade from Dublin. But the river Dee silted up and trade declined and the city's development was frozen. Today Chester is a major tourist attraction and shopping location. Saturday 18th April 2026 https://www.facebook.com/bangorraces Countryside Day Bangor-on-Dee races North Wales (Near Chester) Saturday 18th April 2026 UPDATED - TIMES FOR OUR FREE COACH SERVICE Join us for our Countryside Day on Saturday 18th April 2026 Pick-Up Times 11:25am – Chester Train Station. 11:45am – Chester Racecourse (free parking available). 11:50am – Wrexham Train Station. We will then set off for Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse. Return Journey Depart Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse at 17:50. Return via the same route as the outward journey. Important Information - Only assistance dogs are permitted on our free coach service. - Due to a clash with the football at Wrexham AFC, the return coach will not be able to access Wrexham Train Station. Instead, it will drop off at the bus stop by Dunelm Mill on Central Road, which is a three-minute walk from the station. - You will receive a ticket when boarding – please keep this safe. - Your ticket ensures priority boarding for the return journey. - Lost your ticket? No problem. You can still travel back, but you will need to wait until all ticket holders have boarded first.
